Welcome to the Zenix installation page.

  1. When booting the live CD you may see a (brief) warning that no packages can be found on the (desktop) iso.

There is no repo on the Zenix CD and this message is therefore insignificant.

  2. The installer (ubiquity) is now basically working, however it exhibits some odd behavior.

    • It throws an error message that apt can not be configured. Click the "skip" button to continue the installation.

      apt-error

    • The installer may try to install "language packs" and Open Office. If you do not wish to install these packages click the "skip" button (twice) during the installation (once at 86 % and a second time at 95 %).

      language error 1

      language error 2

Despite the anomalies Zenix seems to install and then boot without any problems.

  3. The Zenix iso were (again) updated on November 14, 2009. The apparmor profiles continued to be problematic and it was easier to remaster the iso then continue with post-install scripts.

If you installed prior to then, you will need to try to manually update the apparmor profiles. Please see the update page for directions on how to update.

If you obtained Zenix on or after November 15, 2009 you should not encounter difficulties with apparmor.

That's it, Zenix should be installed to your hard drive.
